Earning a High School Equivalency Diploma (HSE) changes the trajectory of a person’s life and the Mississippi Community College Board (MCCB) Office of Adult Education (OAE) is working to transform the lives of thousands of Mississippians each year.
We worked with the OAE to develop an umbrella brand to promote the educational and career advancement opportunities offered by the agency. Together, we launched the Skill UP Mississippi brand to focus on highlighting the myriad services and educational offerings available for people to earn a high school diploma or gain the job skills necessary to start a rewarding career.

Insight.
Apprenticeship programs are changing people’s lives. While working on the project, we engaged with apprentices who were given an opportunity to learn transferable soft skills and gain industry recognized credentials that would help ensure they could secure jobs and take care of their families. We also learned from businesses who saw increases in productivity, talent recruitment and retention, and loyalty after launching a successful apprenticeship program. We began telling these stories and highlighting the impact apprenticeship programs were having on the Mississippi workplace.

Innovation.
The updated branding for MAP incorporates the clean design of corporate organizations and bright colors that are attractive to potential students and job seekers. While we created a brand to appeal to multiple audiences, we took an individual approach to reaching out to students and employers by creating custom marketing materials for youth and other job seekers that included a specific focus on increasing the number of women, people of color, veterans, and people with disabilities in apprenticeship programs. We also created a wide range of materials to appeal to employers from various industries across the state.
